4b. In-Depth Workshop Norms and Values

Format of the workshop
Board members and staff members of sports organisations play an important role in realizing an ‘open and inclusive sports culture’. To support them in this process and to impart knowledge and skills, the in-depth workshop on Norms and Values is developed.
The approach, on which this workshop is based, is called Positive Behavior Support, was developed in the US and is made for application in education. However, the approach has also proved successful in sports.
The approach is aimed at creating a safe and inclusive climate for all people involved (young and old) in all parts of the club. This starts with the joint formulation of the core values that the association considers important. Then the behavior that fits these values is identified and it actively teaches all teams and committees. Adequate behavior is then systematically positively reinforced. This creates a safe and positive climate in which every athlete can optimally benefit from the sports on offer.

Purpose for the participants

– Participants learn how to define core values of the club, which are supported by all members > the values with which the club wants to be associated

– Participants learn how these core values and the associated behaviour can be implemented in all settings of the organisation
