Exercise 4c4: Hofstede’s 6 dimensions in sport
Translation of the 6 dimensions to sport
What do you need?
– Power Point Cultural dimensions Hofstede
– Flipchart sheet paper with one dimension of Hofstede on each sheet (make your own sheets)
– Adhesive tape
– Markers
What should you do?
– Divide the group into 6 small groups
– Let the groups walk along the Flipchart sheet papers and consider for each dimension how this dimension is expressed within sports practice.
– As an example you could give the following: In a group-oriented culture, family gatherings are generally given more priority, which can affect participation in competitions and training
– Then the groups rotate along each dimension and try to make additions to the sheets (about 3 minutes per sheet)
– Let all groups end at the dimension where they started. Give them a moment to read what practical examples have been written with them
– Then ask each group to present their sheet
– Ask if the participants recognise the real-life examples from their own experience

– It is not a problem if groups occasionally cannot com
