01.40 – 01.55 Introduction to the theme of diversity and culture
Exercise 3.4: Moving salad
Energiser: the group becomes active and awake from this working method, especially after a long and tiring session. It gives the trainer insight into the knowledge and experience of participants with the subject, individually and as a group. So you know where to plug in. Based on this, you can determine the starting point for the training for this group in relation to this topic.
What do you you need?
– Circuit arrangement with chairs
– One seat less than the number of participants
– Optional: make use of cards with sample questions
What should you do?
– The participants form a circle with their chairs
– Remove one chair or join the exercise without a chair yourself
– The person without a chair stands in the middle of the circle and asks a (closed) question about ‘inclusion of women and girls’. A question that can be answered with ‘yes’ or ‘no’. Ask the question twice, before people start moving
– All people who have to answer the question with ‘yes’ switch seats. The questioner also quickly takes up an empty chair
– The one who remains is the next questioner
– When ‘moving salad’ is called, everyone changes places (which is useful for someone who can’t think of a question)
Trainers advise
– You can use question cards if the subject is difficult to come up with questions about or if you really want to address certain questions
– You can choose to ask all questions yourself. With that you sacrifice the element of play that someone is left without a chair
– If you do not participate yourself, you have more opportunity for observation
