01.15 – 01.30: Review, completion and evaluation
Looking back at the workshop together, to assess what went well and what could be improved
Exercise 4b4: Cheer and complain walls
Visualise the pluses and minuses of the workshop
What do you need?
– flipchart
– flipchart sheets
– tape
– markers in different colours
What should you do?
– Hang flipchart sheets on two separate walls
– Write ‘cheer wall’ on the sheets on one wall side and ‘complain wall’ on the sheets on the other wall.
– Give the participants a marker and have them write words, slogans, mottos, drawings and graphs on the ‘cheer wall’, which reflect the strengths of the workshop.
– The points for attention are written on the complain wall.
– With markers in different colours, the participants can respond to each other’s statements with arrows and stripes.
– Go through the points in plenary and discuss them.
– Start with the complain wall, so that the positive feeling lingers.
Trainer’s advice
– Certainly in a large group it is more convenient to first write all points on post-its and then stick them on the walls. You can also organise these post-its well before you start the discussion.
– If there is no suitable wall, use tables on which you attach the flipchart sheets.
– This activating exercise is also very suitable to use to analyse a common problem or challenge.
