Exercise 1.2: Spider Web Inclusive sports organisation
Participants gain insight into what an inclusive sports organisation entails.
What do you need?
– Flip chart with the text “inclusive sports organisation” on it
– Thick markers
– Training room: the participants must be able to walk freely.
What should you do?
Preparation
– Prepare one or more flipchart sheets in advance with the text “Inclusive sports organisation” in the middle.
– Then create text boxes around this text in which participants can write keywords related to an inclusive sports organisation.
– Make groups of 4 to 5 people, each with its own flipchart and a thick marker.
– The assignment is to come up with as many words as possible that have to do with an inclusive sports organisation and to write them down in the spider web. It will be a kind of mind map that makes the ideas about inclusive sports clear at a glance.
– Discuss the results with the participants by having the groups take turns explaining a word. Groups that have written the same term on their flipchart will cross it out.
Trainers advice
– Add a competition element: The last group to share a relevant word wins the game!
– Hang the flipchart sheets on the wall. For example, use them as a guide during the meeting.
– As a teacher you gain insight into what the participants already know about an inclusive sports organisation.
– This way participants can think about the subject from their own experience. They also discuss topics that they do and do not consider appropriate.
– They not only learn about their own image of an inclusive sports organisation, but also about how other participants think about it.
