Reflection on your own behavior towards inclusivity

00.50 – 01.15 Reflection on one’s own attitude and behavior towards inclusion

Exercise 1.3: Villainous questions
The participants gain insight into their own behavior
– The participants are immediately well connected with the topic. Deepening progress is quickly made.

What do you need?
– Create cards with questions about inclusivity
(you can find a set of questions under ‘materials’)
– Examples of questions:
. Do you know how many migrant members are active at the club?
. In your opinion, should a sports organisation consciously search for migrants for staff and board positions? Why, how?
. Have you ever asked migrant men or women personally to participate in club activities?
. Do you ask about the wishes of migrant people when you organise club activities? Why (not)?
. What is your personal contribution to a welcome atmosphere within the sports organisation?
. In retrospect, what could you have done to promote inclusion within your sports organisation?
. Have you ever experienced a situation in sports where you feel there was discrimination against women or migrants?
. What would you like to do to make migrants feel more at home at the club?
. Why do you think that migrants are not or are indeed affiliated with your organisation?
. Do you think there is sufficient support among the members of your club for more diversity of members and staff? Please explain your answer.

What should you do?
– Place the cards with the questions upside down on the floor.
– Have the participants walk around. On a sign they all look for another participant and together pick up a card. They ask each other the question on the card and discuss it.

Trainers advice
– Afterwards ask how the participants experienced this exercise. You can also ask for the most striking or impressive answer.
– Let participants come up with a question themselves and discuss it.
