Format of the meeting
Board members and staff members of sports organisations play an important role in realising an ‘open and inclusive sports culture’. To support them in this process and to impart knowledge and skills, the “Inclusive Sport” training has been developed. In this first meeting, participants are introduced to the theme of “Inclusive Sport” and they gain insight into what will be discussed in this basic module / what they will learn in this basic module.
Purpose for the participants
Getting acquainted with the theme ‘Inclusive Sport’ and relating this to oneself personally and to oneself as a professional in the sports organisation.
Preparation
– Read in preparation all exercises and associated materials and information pertaining to this meeting.
– Copy handouts for the participants.
– Check whether you have all the necessary materials (for the activating methods).
– Check whether all necessary equipment is available for working with visual material or videos.
Programme
– Introduction (20 min).
– Content of the three meetings and today’s program (10 min).
– What is an inclusive sports organisation? (20 min).
– Reflection on your own behavior towards inclusivity (25 min).
– Introduction to the theme Diversity and culture (15 min).
– Introduction to the theme Women and girls (15 min).
– Introduction to the theme Discrimination and racism (15 min).
– Introduction to the theme Values and norms (15 min).
– Homework assignment (5 min).
– Closing and evaluation (10 min).
